Welcome to West Byfleet Golf Club
Established in 1922, West Byfleet Golf Club boasts a course originally crafted by Cuthbert Butchart and later transformed by the esteemed architect John Abercromby, who also designed iconic courses such as The Addington, Coombe Hill, and Knole Park.
Golf in West Byfleet began in 1906 as Bleakdown Golf Club, when pioneering developer and landowner – Hugh Locke King – gave the land over for golf following the success of his first golf course closeby at New Zealand. In 1922, the club changed name and ever since has been known as West Byfleet, and we areproud of our warm, inclusive community.
Supporting charity is a core value at West Byfleet; in 2024, we are thrilled to partner with HomeStart – Runnymede & Woking. Contributing to our local community remains a vital and cherished tradition here at the club.

Welcome to West Byfleet Golf Club
Founded in 1922, West Byfleet Golf Club is a traditional Members’ Club with a strong friendly family tradition, an outstanding golf course and a relaxed social environment in which to play the game. The Club prides itself on welcoming visiting golfers all year round to enjoy the challenge of Abercromby’s wonderful design.
Measuring 6,531 yards off the men’s purple competition tees with a par of 70 and eight par four holes of over 400 yards each, it is regarded as a good test of golf; indeed par is rarely broken. The red tee course measures 5,647 yards with a ladies’ par of 72. The Club’s signature hole is the 13th Pond hole, a short but tricky par 3.
